Reports have gone viral online purporting that the incarcerated pastor Paul Mackenzie is dead.

Mackenzie has been in custody for about two years for allegedly being the mastermind of the Shakahola massacre where over 400 of his Good News International church’s faithful starved to death.

However, reacting to his death claims, Mackenzie’s lawyer, Lawrence Obonyo, confirmed the preacher was well and called out the purveyors of the rumour.

"We are very disappointed by this rumour; it has bad intentions. We don't know the reason, but we feel someone has foul intentions. Mackenzie is alive and in good health," said Obonyo while speaking at the Mombasa court.

However, the lawyer confirmed that two of Mackenzie’s co-accused died in the course of the prosecution.
