Governor James Orengo together with the Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO) Planning Committee, held high level Meeting and consultations, with His Excellency Raila Odinga at his capitol hill office. The purpose of the meeting was a debrief on the plannings and preparations and invitations, support support for the upcoming conference.
the meeting emphasized on the significance , initiatives that could strengthen Siaya’s investment conference and landscape across key sectors such as the blue economy, agriculture and energy.
Raila Odinga commended efforts in shaping Siaya’s development path, particularly in creating opportunities for transformative investments, including in the area of nuclear energy.
Last month a delegation from the Nuclear power agency NuPEA led by board Chairman Eng Lawrence Gumbe met with Governor James Orengo at his Siaya office and made several tremendous engagements on how to set up a nuclear power plant in Bondo sub county.
The 500 billion energy plant once set up will economic stimulus packages in Siaya and beyond, create jobs and add to the national power grid thereby curbing shortages coming with power shortages in the area.
Today the focus on SITICO was a welcome move since the high level investment conference will come with economic benefits that will tap into the County’s potential thereby creating jobs in industrial revolution and making siaya an economic hub in the region, competing with other counties.
Orengo has won the support of various industry players, with KAKUZI KENYA and LUPFUND as the latest companies which have signed into the conference as silver sponsors and participants.
Summit of the investment conference will see high level dignitaries attend with president William Ruto and ODM leader Raila odinga gracing the event which starts on 14th next month to be held at Siaya National Institute.
Governor James Orengo was accompanied by County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, CECM Governance ICT and Administration CS Agunda Ochanda, finance and economic planning George Nyingiro, Trade Grace Agola, acting chief officer Agriculture livestock Dr Elizabeth Adongo and SITICO co chairman Vitor Nyangaya among other officials
