Kitui County is heading into a new era of leadership in 2027, and Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu has emerged as a strong and capable candidate for governor. Her track record reflects service, vision, and a deep concern for the welfare of her people.
In Parliament, Dr. Kasalu has served on the Defence and Foreign Relations Committee, a role that has given her national influence and proven her ability to handle critical issues with firmness and responsibility.
She is also the sponsor of the Whistleblower Protection Bill a bold step in the fight against corruption. By protecting those who speak out, she demonstrates her commitment to accountability and good governance.
Education remains at the heart of her leadership. Through NGAAF scholarships, she has supported many students, ensuring young people gain access to opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. Recently, she called for all NGCDF and NGAAF funds allocated for education to be directed to schools so that learning can be free for all children.
Her agenda goes beyond classrooms. Kasalu has been a champion of women’s and youth empowerment, supporting table banking and grassroots initiatives that uplift entire households.
She has encouraged the formation of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) across Kitui, bringing people together to drive their own development.
Kasalu is seen as a leader who unites rather than divides. By working with communities across all wards, she has demonstrated her ability to build inclusive development and ensure that no one is left behind.
