Ogamba

Julius Migos Ogamba has warned the public against a fake letter circulating online claiming to explain delays in paying professionals who worked on the 2025 national exams.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 23, the Education CS said the document, which has been shared widely on social media, did not come from the Ministry of Education.

“The document currently circulating is fake. I urge the public to treat it with the contempt it deserves,” he said.

In the letter with the ministry’s letterhead and signature of the CS, the claim is that they were addressing the grievances that the examiners had concerning their payment during last year’s examinations.

They claim that no money had been allocated to those workers, thus making the delay. It is stated in the letter that the affected workers will be paid next year following the allocation of funds.

However, Ogamba refuted all claims contained in the letter saying that they are not authentic.

The warning comes just weeks after the Kenya National Examinations Council also flagged another fake notice. That earlier message had claimed the council had received funds from the National Treasury but was facing delays due to missing data for some contracted staff.

The issue of delayed payments for examiners who handled the 2025 national exams has continued to raise concern. Thousands of teachers say they are yet to be paid.

Their union, Kenya National Union of Teachers, has already threatened to call a strike and boycott the supervision and marking of the 2026 exams if the pending payments are not settled.
