Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has called out Governor James Orengo for poking holes in the working agreement signed between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga through their political parties.

Speaking in Migori during the interdenominational prayer service at Kadika Primary School, an event President Ruto graced, Orengo ‘dismissed’ the broad-based government, saying he will continue fighting for people’s rights.

However, in retort, when he stood to speak, Oburu schooled Orengo that his sole mandate as the county governor is not to fight for people but to serve them.

"A governor (Orengo) is not given the mandate to fight for his people, he is mandated to serve his people. He is given resources to serve his people. This is not the time to fight for your rights. Which rights are you fighting for more than the roads, hospitals, water and electricity? posed Oburu.

The senator went on to ask Orengo to quit ODM if he is not happy with the broad-based government and join the opposition, where he can now freely fight the government.

"Which rights do you want us to go to the streets and fight for? If you want to fight, there is a lot of space elsewhere where you can join and fight.
Those who think this broad-based government is not right are vomiting on us from within. Why don't they get out? We want ODM to be clean and move forward with our people," he added.
