Newcastle United are in advanced negotiations with Aston Villa over a deal for midfielder Jacob Ramsey, with key discussions expected to take place in the next 24 hours.
According to media reports, the two Premier League clubs are edging closer to an agreement that would see the 24-year-old make the move to St James’ Park before the transfer deadline.
Ramsey is set to hold talks with Villa regarding his future, as Newcastle boss Eddie Howe pushes to secure the highly-rated midfielder’s signature.
Should Villa and Newcastle finalize terms and Ramsey choose to leave, he will then begin negotiations over personal terms with the Magpies.
West Ham have also shown strong interest in Ramsey this summer, but Newcastle is believed to be his preferred destination if he departs Villa Park.
Since making his senior debut in 2019, Ramsey has made 167 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 17 goals.
He was a regular under Unai Emery last season and remains a valued asset at the club.
Newcastle have already strengthened their squad with two permanent signings this summer: winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and defender Malick Thiaw from AC Milan. In addition, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined the club on loan from Southampton.
