Kenya Editors Guild and the NCIC Kenya hosted a breakfast meeting to discuss the role of media in shaping transgenerational conversations.

This framework, launched by NCIC Kenya, aims to promote engagement across generations, fostering unity and understanding in our society.

The NCIC Trans generational Conversations is about creating space for open dialogue between the different generations in Kenya.

It also aims to bridge the gap and break down the walls, tap into the power of diversity, and shape the future together.

NCIC Commissioner Dr. Danvas Makori

“NCIC’s framework is a roadmap towards making these conversations and engagements happen. It’s time to stop talking to each other and start talking to each other. As a country, we can move forward when generations are having honest conversations.”NCIC Commissioner Dr. Danvas Makori Said.

Ms. Rosalia Omungo, CEO of the Kenya Editors Guild, echoed this sentiment by emphasizing the media’s role in shaping the national agenda.

“Capacity building and sensitization of journalists in the area of identifying hate speech is key, and we look forward to partnering with the commission to build capacity for journalists in this area.

The media plays a significant role in shaping the agenda, and by extension, influencing the political climate.”She added.

Fostering innovation through dialogue is a key goal of these conversations.

By encouraging cross-generational collaboration a fusion of tradition and modernity, groundbreaking solutions can be achieved within communities through town hall sessions and other platforms.

“The future of our nation is not on the horizon; it is being shaped here today, we hold the power to sculpt a future for Kenya, together, through our diverse voices.”NCIC Chairman Dr. Samuel Kobia remarked.

Promoting inclusivity and empathy, the media has a unique ability to spotlight stories from various generational perspectives.

By featuring diverse narratives whether from the elders who fought for independence or the youth who advocate for change the media cultivates empathy and understanding.

This inclusivity is essential for a cohesive society, allowing individuals to see beyond their own experiences and appreciate the rich diversity
