Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has expressed his unhappiness with the hitches experienced in the building of the Suam border point and customs office in the county.
The governor while in Suam observed that Uganda has gone a long way to establishing state-of-the-art border facilities on its side, whereas Kenya’s works have been so slow that the project has been left behind.
Natembeya appealed to the national government to accelerate the construction, pointing that the border point’s completion is what will open the way to residents’ economic activities by facilitating cross-border trade.
He further stated that the institution, when it becomes functional, will not only facilitate trade between Kenya and Uganda but will also spread the economic boom of the greater North Rift region.
