Fresh off her gold medal victory in the Junior U-20 women’s 70kg category, Faith Nanjala Wamalwa delivered another impressive performance by finishing fourth in the senior category at the Casablanca Beach Wrestling World Series, held at Ain Diab Beach in Morocco.

Competing just a day after her junior triumph, Nanjala narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the senior women’s 70kg class, losing in the semifinals to American Olivia Haven.

Despite the loss, her fourth-place finish among senior competitors is a significant achievement and a testament to her rising profile in international beach wrestling.

In the men’s events, Mahabila Mathayo, the 2023 African Beach Games bronze medalist, also reached the semifinals in the 80kg category but was defeated by France’s Hugo Jose Cuenot, settling for a respectable finish just outside the medal positions.

Meanwhile, Oloo Brian Maurice (70kg) and Joel Obae Tukai (90+kg) were both eliminated in the early stages. Oloo lost to Guy Alaine Lago of Ivory Coast, while Tukai fell to Oleksandr Veresiuk of Ukraine.

The Kenya Amateur Wrestling Association (KAWA) has already announced that cadet and junior wrestlers will head straight into residential training camp in preparation for the upcoming World Beach Wrestling Championships in Greece, set for 22–28 September 2025.

The Greece championship will also serve as a crucial qualifier for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games, putting Kenya’s young talent on the road to Olympic contention.
