Naivas Supermarket, one of Kenya’s leading retail chains, has strongly dismissed false and misleading claims circulating on social media regarding the sale of expired products and the alleged closure of some of its Nairobi branches by health authorities.
In a detailed statement issued on Wednesday 14, the retailer clarified that no expired products have been found on its shelves, affirming that all its branches operate under rigorous quality control measures and stock management systems to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.“All our stores remain fully operational and compliant with standards set by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Ministry of Health, and other relevant authorities,” the statement reads
Naivas further assured the public that none of its outlets have been closed by any health or regulatory body, and that it continues to uphold the highest levels of hygiene and operational standards.
The supermarket chain described the circulating allegations as not only baseless but also harmful to its reputation and to the millions of customers who depend on it for essential goods.
The company revealed it is consulting legal experts with a view to pursuing formal action against those behind the malicious rumors.“Naivas has a very strict anti-bribery and corruption policy and will not submit to extortionary tactics,” the statement added, signaling a firm stance against any attempts to undermine its operations through intimidation or misinformation.
The company urged customers and the general public to disregard the online rumors and continue to shop with confidence at any of its branches nationwide.
With a broad presence across Kenya and a reputation for quality and reliability, Naivas reiterated its commitment to serving Kenyans with integrity and transparency, even in the face of misinformation campaigns.
