Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications, Philip Etale, has come out in support of comedian David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah, following a heated online exchange between the comedian and his ex-girlfriend, Ruth Njoki Karegi, alias Ruth K.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Etale praised Mulamwah’s composure during the public fallout, calling him a “real man” and suggesting that he be invited as a keynote speaker at the next men’s conference.
“My kinsman Mulamwa is a real man. He should be invited to the next men’s conference to give the keynote address. His effrontery is on a different level,” Etale wrote.
The comment followed a dramatic online confrontation on Thursday, June 19, where Ruth K accused Mulamwah of continued disrespect after their breakup.
She claimed the comedian had subjected her to public and private humiliation, despite the separation happening less than three months ago.
“Sometimes silence is taken for granted. I’ve faced disrespect in ways you wouldn’t even imagine… Enough is enough. I take my respect back,” Ruth K posted, citing incidents including a reversed Ksh5,000 transfer and the misuse of her photos.
In response, Mulamwah dismissed Ruth’s complaints and instead blamed her for the collapse of their relationship. He accused her friends of poisoning her mind and criticized her for disrespecting both him and his family.

“You broke your own home with your own hands… I warned you about your friends, but you wouldn’t listen. Eventually, they helped you move out. You got some money and fame, then grew proud and disrespectful—even to my parents,” he wrote.
Despite the bitter exchange, both parties have since issued public apologies to their followers, acknowledging the fallout’s impact on their fans and promising to handle personal matters more privately moving forward.
