Kenyan influencer Naomi Kuria has opened up about how her use of bhang negatively affected her career, leading to the loss of a lucrative Ksh 600,000 influencing deal.
Speaking during an interview with Oga Obinna, Naomi candidly shared that quitting bhang was one of the hardest things she has ever done. According to her, the habit slowly drained her motivation, making her increasingly lazy and disconnected from her work responsibilities.
Naomi revealed that the turning point came when a brand she was working with asked her to redo a promotional video that did not meet expectations. However, instead of correcting the content as required, she failed to deliver altogether.
She explained that during that period, she spent most of her time lying on the sofa, feeling unmotivated and uninterested in work.
As a result of her failure to submit the revised content, the brand eventually terminated the contract, costing her hundreds of thousands of shillings and a valuable professional opportunity.
Beyond the financial loss, Naomi also spoke about the personal toll bhang took on her mental sharpness. She disclosed that her memory and communication skills were affected, making it difficult for her to express herself clearly.
Naomi shared that she would sometimes forget simple English words and struggle to articulate her thoughts during conversations.
Her revelation sparked conversation online, with many praising her honesty and vulnerability, while others viewed her story as a cautionary tale about how lifestyle choices can impact professional growth especially in the fast-paced influencer industry where consistency and reliability matter.
