National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has emphasized Kenya Kwanza Government’s determination to improve the Country’s infrastructure across all sectors.

Speaker Wetangula said the Government is prioritizing infrastructure as a key pillar towards achieving economic progression.

Speaking while addressing the people of Teso North Constituency, Wetangula assured locals that the Government has already allocated funds in the budget for the expansion and construction of the Malaba–Nairobi Dual Highway, with works having commenced at Rironi.

"This aims at easing the congestion of trucks witnessed along the Malaba border. We are cognizant of the cross-border potential in the region," he noted.

Wetangula affirmed the commitment of President William Ruto and President Yoweri Museveni, whom he said are working on the modalities of the East African Protocol to enhance trade and the free movement of people, goods, and services.

"This initiative will allow our people of Kenya and Uganda to interact more freely, conduct businesses with ease, and live harmoniously," emphasized Dr. Wetang’ula.

He called upon both local and national leaders to shun parochial politics, insults, and tribalism, and instead embrace unity as one big family called Kenya.

"Our people have the responsibility to continue supporting the leadership of President Ruto. I encourage the youth to organize themselves into groups to benefit from the Nyota Program, which offers training and financial support."

The Speaker further applauded President Ruto for reducing fertilizer prices from Sh 7,000 to Sh 2,500, a move that he said has greatly boosted maize production and enabled Western Kenya to record a bumper harvest this year.

Gathering in Teso North for a transformative Women Empowerment Programme aimed at strengthening women-led businesses and deepening their role in shaping our nation’s development, Wetangula noted the Country’s economic growth.

"Kenya’s economy has shown steady growth, rising from 4.7 percent last year to over 5.0 percent in 2025. Women continue to stand at the very heart of this progress," he said.

He explained that by equipping Women with the right tools, resources, knowledge, and opportunities, the Country will not only uplift families but also drive inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the country.

Stressing on the Government’s agenda, Wetangula said strong leaders are those that are not afraid to make hard decisions that transform the lives of the people.

"The Kenya kwanza administration made tough decisions to revive the economy, so far stalled projects across the country have been revived with road networks seeking to open up the Western region having been budgeted for," he affirmed.

He reminded locals the Government had taken bold steps to facilitate issuance of IDs and Passports to enhance free movement of people along the Busia Border point hence facilitating business and economic growth.

"The previous incidents of harassment of business operators by the neighboring countries is under review with Uganda already having committed to work along the EAC protocol and ensure free movement of people, goods and services."

Ugenya MP David Ochieng who had accompanied the Speaker, called on Teso Community to seek unity linkages with other communities.

"We have come a long way as a Country. We don't want to seclude other communities because it is believed they have small numbers. We are all Kenyans and we must strive to achieve unity of purpose," said Hon. Ochieng.

Butere MP Tindi Mwale criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent remarks on the current leadership, saying the Broad-based Government had revived the economy.

"This Country was in ICU immediately we took over power. President Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have done their best to improve the economy,"he noted.
