Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has held talks with Hungary’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Orbán on strengthening economic ties between Kenya and Hungary.
Mudavadi said the discussions focused on expanding trade and investment while deepening development cooperation and people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The talks are part of Kenya’s broader efforts to diversify its international economic partnerships and increase access to new markets. The government has said it wants to expand value-added exports, attract investment and facilitate technology transfer as part of its economic diplomacy agenda.
Mudavadi said stronger Kenya-Hungary relations could create opportunities for Kenyan businesses, entrepreneurs and young people by connecting them to European markets.
“Kenya is looking beyond traditional markets to build stronger economic connections across Europe,” Mudavadi said in a statement.
He said the two sides explored ways of translating the existing diplomatic relationship into greater economic value for citizens of both countries.
The discussions also covered development cooperation and closer people-to-people ties, with a focus on creating pathways for Kenyan enterprises and talent to access international opportunities.
Mudavadi said Kenya’s objective was to attract more investment, connect local businesses and skills to new markets and support job creation and shared prosperity.
The engagement comes as Kenya continues to use diplomatic partnerships to promote trade, investment and economic cooperation. The Foreign Affairs Ministry has encouraged diplomatic missions to strengthen links between Kenyan investors and businesses and their counterparts abroad.
Kenya has also been seeking to position itself as a manufacturing base and a gateway to wider African markets while pursuing partnerships in technology, digital development, energy and other emerging sectors.
