Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that he will be travelling to Russia in the coming month to have talks with the Russian authorities in an attempt to get the safest return of the Kenyans who are said to be trapped in the Ukraine, Russia war.

He said these while responding to the concerns raised by the public that the government might not be willing to thoroughly investigate the matter of Kenyans recruitment into the Russian army.

It is believed that at least 82 Kenyans have been stranded and caught up in the ongoing war as the Kenyan government has been able to confirm the presence of its citizens in the conflict. The disclosure came after the families, who are under pressure, whose loved ones are reportedly at the frontlines, had made the various pleas for them to be identified and rescued.

Mudavadi said that the main reason for his trip to Russia will be to talk with the Russian authorities in order to secure the safe release of those Kenyans who may be in danger, as there are rumors that some individuals may have signed up to the war without their knowledge.

The social media has been awash with images of Kenyans believed to be actively participating in the war in Ukraine, with some believed to have unknowingly signed up for the war.

Families whose loved ones have either died or have been coerced into joining the Russians in the war have been demanding action from the Kenyan government. The announcement by Mudavadi may perhaps bring some much-needed relief to the families.
