MP Faith Gitau Criticizes Deputy President for Divisive Leadership Style

Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau has launched a scathing critique of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of failing to live up to the expectations of his high office.

Speaking during the parliamentary debate on the impeachment motion against the Deputy President, Gitau expressed disappointment in Gachagua’s leadership style, describing it as self-centered and divisive.

“The Deputy President, as the second in command, should act as a father figure to Members of Parliament and the community at large,” Gitau said. “However, his tenure has been marked by a ‘me, myself, and I’ approach that is both egocentric and harmful to national unity.”

Gitau lamented that Gachagua has lowered the status and respect that the office of the Deputy President commands, failing to unite the nation or set a positive example for other leaders.

“It is unfortunate that he has not only divided the leadership but also tarnished the dignity expected of such a high office,” she added.

Her remarks come as MPs continue to deliberate on the impeachment motion against the Deputy President, which is centered on accusations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and violation of the constitution.
