Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has claimed that President William Ruto will secure the support of Raila Odinga’s political base during the 2027 general elections, even without any formal endorsement from the former Prime Minister.

Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Amisi suggested that Ruto would replicate the strategy he used in the 2022 elections to win over Mt Kenya voters.

He described the president as a “smart, vicious, conniving, and calculative politician” who strategically uses financial resources to further his political agenda.

Amisi argued that Ruto will leverage his current rapport with Raila Odinga to gain favor among supporters in Raila’s strongholds.

“Ruto will endear himself to Raila’s supporters and use resources on overzealous ODM leaders,” Amisi stated, adding that, in the absence of Raila, who could be in Addis Ababa should he win the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, the people in Raila’s political base will begin praising Ruto.

The MP further noted that Ruto’s visits to the Western Kenya region would help him build a strong connection with the locals, much like he did in Central Kenya during the 2022 election period. He predicted that by strategically positioning himself as a son of the Western region, Ruto would win over voters, irrespective of Raila’s absence.

For Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027, Amisi emphasized that the president wouldn’t need any endorsements, as he would forge alliances with various regions, using Raila’s support base to form a coalition government.

“Ruto is a very smart, vicious, conniving, calculative politician who uses money massively to achieve his goals. Forget about other underlying reasons. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back in Central Kenya. He will do the same in Raila’s strongholds,” Amisi wrote.

Amisi’s comments come just a day after President Ruto received a warm welcome in Kondele, Kisumu County, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, after attending the Fourth African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network (AFSNET). Ruto made a stopover in Kondele, where he addressed the residents alongside key political leaders, including Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.

In his remarks to the Kisumu residents, Ruto expressed his affection for the youth of Kisumu, stating, “Vijana wa Kisumu nawapenda sana na ninawatakia baraka za mwenyezi mungu. Acha niseme asante sane kwa kutukaribisha. Mungu awabariki na Mungu anawependa sana.”
