Former governor Mike Sonko has bid to help digital influencer Rahma, popularly known as Nihan, after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her Forex trader boyfriend Trevor Gichuru, popularly known as Flossin.

The disturbing incident triggered outrage on social media, with Kenyans calling for justice and demanding accountability for the alleged violence.

Nihan allegedly claims that her boyfriend attacked her using a metal rod, but she managed to escape from their home before receiving assistance from social media personality Mali ya Kibe, who is said to have helped her access safety and medical attention.

The incident drew a lot of attention with Kenyans, including Mike Sonko condemning the incident.

Mike Sonko alleged the attack was attempted murder and called it a heartbreaking moment that demanded urgent attention.

“Trevor, kwani human huruma? Huyu ni mtoto wa wenyewe! Imagine the pain her family is going through! Kama mapenzi hayaendi, wachaneni kwa amani,” Sonko said in a statement.

Reports circulating online suggest Flossin visited a police station to file a counter complaint against Nihan, but was instead arrested following the allegations made against him.

It still remains unclear whether he has been formally charged or whether he or his legal team has publicly responded.

Sonko told Nihan that his doors are open to her and her family, promising to collaborate with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Judiciary in pursuit of accountability.
