A Meru woman broke her silence after her intimate video, which had been recorded seven years ago, was leaked and spread across social media platforms.
The lady, whose name has been circulating on social media, was among the top trending names this week after the release of the explicit video. Although some online users were quick to judge and shame her, there have also been voices raised defending her, condemning the wicked act behind the leakage.
The woman was deceived years ago to share her intimate videos, which were afterwards used for blackmail. The person who had betrayed her then shared the videos on the internet, and she felt humiliated and exposed.
“I was thinking about her kids and how they should feel knowing their mother is being ridiculed out there,” one concerned supporter explained. “This was not only ungenerous but hugely inhumane.”
The grandmother and mother have now uploaded a tearful video urging Kenyans to forgive her and to be merciful instead of condemning. She described how, after the leak, frustrated people poured into her small business kiosk (kibanda) in Meru and attempted to hurt her. Police arrived to save her, though her business was destroyed in the process.
She is now sheltered by a good Samaritan who has offered her aid and protection during this period.
