Kylian Mbappe maintained his exceptional form with a hat-trick on Saturday, guiding Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Valladolid and extending their lead at the top of La Liga to four points.

Atletico Madrid, in second place, were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Villarreal earlier in the day, while Barcelona, sitting third, trail Madrid by 10 points ahead of their Sunday clash with Valencia.

After a slow start to his Real Madrid career following his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe has found his best form in recent weeks.

His three goals against Valladolid took his league tally to 15, just one behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, who has 16.

Without suspended Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior, Madrid dominated the match against Valladolid, who started brightly with a David Torres header that forced a save from Thibaut Courtois.

However, that would be the closest they came to troubling Madrid.

The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Jude Bellingham’s deflected pass found Mbappe, who expertly curled the ball into the top corner.

The French forward has now scored in each of his last five games for his new club, showing he is quickly becoming the attacking force Madrid hoped for.

While Madrid controlled possession, it was Mbappe who delivered again in the 57th minute.

A quick pass from Rodrygo sent Mbappe into space, and he calmly slotted a low shot past Valladolid goalkeeper Karl Hein.

Mbappe completed his hat-trick with a penalty late in the game after Mario Martin fouled Bellingham in the area, earning a red card for his dangerous tackle.

Mbappe sent Hein the wrong way from the spot, notching his 12th goal in his last 11 appearances across all competitions.
