Revenue from the eCitizen platform rose four-fold in the just-ended financial year, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has revealed.

In the 2023/24 financial year, the platform raised Sh100.8 billion as opposed to Sh26 billion collected in the 2022/23 fiscal year.

The revenue increased significantly by Sh74.8 billion following the integration of 16, 000 government services into the digital system.

Mbadi attributed this achievement to reducing leakages and provision of a uniform paybill that has improved on transparency across all transactions.

Appearing before the Senate Plenary today, Mbadi said the platform performs 120,000 transactions every day.

He revealed there had been several attempts to hack the system but the security operations centre has neutralised them.

Digital transformation has been one of the key priorities of President William Ruto’s administration, terming it as a game changer in creating job opportunities for the youth.
