Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has accused former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi of attempting to intimidate voters in the Mbeere North by-election.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview with a section of the media, Wamumbi claimed that Muturi had visited the constituency with the intention of “selling fear” to residents.
“Justin Muturi ndiye aliyekuwa amekuja kuuzia watu uoga, na nitamfuata siku nzima mahali atakapoenda, kwa sababu ana nia ya kuuzia wapiga kura wa Mbeere North uoga,” Wamumbi said, vowing to counter Muturi’s alleged influence throughout the day.
The comments come amid intensified campaigns as political leaders rally support for their preferred candidates during today’s voting process.
Wamumbi, a strong ally of the ruling party, is backing the UDA candidate and urging residents to reject what he termed intimidation tactics.
Muturi has not yet responded to the allegations.
