Migori Youth FC, a team in the National Super League, was involved in a road accident near Kinoo along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The team was en route to Thika for a match against MCF at the MPESA Foundation grounds.
The incident occurred when the driver of a Transcar Sacco matatu lost control and veered off the road, colliding with the team’s stationary bus.
Five players—Lucky Musyoki, Tyson Omondi, Kelly Otieno, Nicolas Ochieng, and Josphat Kagege—sustained serious injuries, while the rest of the squad suffered minor cuts.
The injured players were quickly taken to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Muthiga, where they are currently being treated.

The match against MCF was scheduled for a 10:00 AM kick-off today, but team official Osman confirmed that they will not participate, having communicated with MCF, who agreed to postpone the game in a show of sportsmanship.
The team has formally written to the Football Kenya Federation regarding the postponement.
Most of the squad has already returned to Migori, with the exception of the five players who remain hospitalized.
