Former Justice Minister Martha Karua has congratulated the People’s Movement Party following its official launch, describing the emergence of new political movements as an important part of a thriving democracy.
Karua welcomed the new party and extended her best wishes to its leadership and members as they begin a new political chapter.
She said a healthy democratic system should allow different political movements to emerge and compete for the support and trust of Kenyans.
Karua further linked the emergence of new political parties to broader questions of political participation, accountability and voter choice.
She expressed hope that the People’s Movement Party would contribute to building a Kenya that is democratic, just, prosperous and provides opportunities for its citizens.
The party’s launch adds to the growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, as different political formations position themselves to attract supporters and present alternative platforms to the electorate.
