George Maina Muriithi, the director of Mara Ndovu Lodge Limited, has been arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts over allegations of defrauding a businessman of Sh48.8 million in a fake investment scheme.

The case stems from an incident reported at Parklands Police Station, where the complainant claimed Muriithi approached him in October 2022 with an offer to purchase 48,800 shares in the lodge, each valued at Sh1,000.

Deceived by what seemed to be a realinvestment opportunity, the victim remitted the entire amount in two instalments via Otieno & Ambrose Advocates lawyers on behalf of Muriithi.

A signed share purchase agreement was said to have been signed on 22nd December 2022 detailing the terms of sale.

However, it was revealed by investigators that upon being paid in full, Muriithi failed to release the agreed-upon shares. The director went intocommunicado mode, therefore, the complainant has sought a legal action

Detectives from Parklands launched investigations which ultimately led to Muriithi’s arrest.

In court, he pleaded not guilty to charges related  and this led Prosecutors to  oppose his release on bond, arguing that Muriithi poses a flight risk.

Muriithi is currently at Capitol Hill Police Station awaiting for a bond ruling set for July 15, 2025.
