Stephen Odhiambo Obise, alias Obisalom Komando, who went viral for hanging on a chopper during Ohangla maestro Prince Indah’s traditional wedding, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison with an alternative of paying KSh 500,000 fine.

Migori magistrate’s court’s Senior Principal Magistrate Mathias Okuche ruled that Komando unlawfully and willingly clung to the chopper in the April 13 incident.

Upon his arrest and arraignment, the young man was charged with endangering the safety and security of an aircraft and its passengers through disorderly conduct, under Section 46(1)(a) of the Civil Aviation Act, Cap 394.

Komando pleaded guilty to the charges.

"With enough evidence presented to this court against the accused Stephen Odhiambo, this court has found you guilty of the offence. I hereby impose a fine of KSh 500,000 cash bail or 18 months in prison on Steven Odhiambo," Okuche ruled.
