Majembe Loses iPhone 17 in Kisumu

Amateur boxer Majembe, also known as Portifas Odipo, is in shock after losing one of his winnings, an iPhone 17, shortly after a celebratory homecoming in Kisumu following his boxing success.

The incident comes days after Majembe faced off with fellow amateur fighter Mbavu Destroyer in a highly publicised bout. He secured victory after a strong performance that saw him dominate early rounds, earning him several prizes including a car, cash rewards running into millions, and two smartphones, among them the high-end iPhone 17.

Following the win, Majembe travelled to his rural home in Kisumu where supporters organised a homecoming event in his honour. Large crowds turned up to celebrate the boxer’s achievement, with the gathering marked by music, speeches, and public admiration.

However, the celebrations took an unfortunate turn. Majembe later revealed on social media that his newly acquired phone, valued at over KSh 150,000, went missing during the event and is believed to have been stolen amid the crowd.

“The homecoming started off well but has ended on a bad note. They have just stolen from me, just like that. The phone that I was given, those people came for the homecoming just to congratulate me and talk to me. I have not accepted it,” he said in a TikTok live.
