Boniface Muchiri, a key player for Harambee Stars and captain of Ulinzi Stars FC, has been promoted from Senior Private to the rank of Corporal in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The promotion was announced on Wednesday by the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, in recognition of Muchiri’s outstanding performance at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The new rank was officially conferred by Major General Luka Kutto, General Officer Commanding Eastern Command.
General Kahariri praised Corporal Muchiri for his exemplary discipline, dedication, and excellence, both in military service and on the football field.
“We are very grateful for your commitment, hard work, and excellent performance while serving Kenya and the KDF. We wish you continued success in your future assignments and are confident you will keep excelling,” said the CDF.
The promotion underscores the KDF’s dedication to nurturing talent and recognizing exceptional contributions both within and outside the military.
During the same ceremony, General Kahariri also received an interim performance report for Ulinzi Stars FC covering the period 2020–2025.
The event was attended by senior KDF leadership including Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lieutenant General John Omenda; Director of Personnel and Logistics, Major General Edward Rugendo; other senior officers, service members, and members of the Ulinzi Stars Football Club.
