A few years ago, blogger Patooh Gichini made headlines after boldly appealing to former President Uhuru Kenyatta to allow him to marry his daughter, Ngina Kenyatta.
Gichini publicly pleaded to become Uhuru’s son-in-law, a move that sparked widespread chatter on social media.
However, in hindsight, Gichini now questions what prompted him to make such a daring request.

Reflecting on the incident, he recently wrote on Facebook, “Two years ago, I almost married Ngina Kenyatta. Kweli bangi sio spinach,” suggesting he might have been under the influence at the time.
Despite his self-doubt, some of his friends encouraged him to keep trying until Ngina is officially off the market. At the height of his obsession with Ngina, Gichini once addressed Uhuru directly, writing:
“Dear Mr. President, I love you because you’ve never disappointed. You saw that Hon. John Paul needed a car to be a complete MP, and you made it happen.”
He continued, “Now look at me, all I’m missing to be a complete man is a good wife. I like your daughter Ngina. Please make me your son. When our enemies ask, ‘Unatetea Uhuru Kwani ni babako?’ I want to proudly answer, ‘Yes, dear father-in-law.’ Ndîngìaga mbûri cia kûgûrana ta Mûgìkûyû (I won’t lack a herd of goats to offer for your daughter like a true Kikuyu man).”
