While it is within our rights to criticize the president and hold him accountable, I firmly believe that no one should ever lure me or anyone else into disrespecting the person occupying the office, the institution of the presidency, or other leaders entrusted with public responsibility.
Authority is God given. Respect it. However, Criticism, when done constructively, is a vital pillar of democracy, but what we are witnessing, especially among the younger generation, is an alarming misuse of the right to free expression.
Freedom of speech was never intended to be a weapon for insults, character assassination, or reckless outbursts. It was meant to empower citizens to voice concerns, share ideas, and demand accountability with decorum and respect.
As a society, we must urgently learn how to address grievances without crossing lines that undermine the dignity of individuals and institutions.
The recent incident involving those young men who insulted the president was not only regrettable but also avoidable.
While I earnestly appeal to the president for his forgiveness and advocate for their release, let this moment stand as a profound lesson.
We must remind ourselves that words carry weight, actions have consequences, and respect regardless of differences in opinion will always remain the foundation of meaningful dialogue and progress.
