The plan to double Kiambu Road from Muthaiga to Ndumberi has been confirmed by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) through the work on feeder roads in Thindigua that are aimed to facilitate traffic diversions during the main works.

According to KURA officials, the work is ongoing to build a 1.5-kilometre road that will connect Thindigua Town to the Northern Bypass at Windsor. The road will be used as a detour for drivers when the dualling of the Kiambu Road corridor will be done.

Residents have been pleased with the development and they said the new link will not only help to alleviate the long-standing traffic congestion problem but also improve the connection between Kiambu Road and Thika Road. It is also expected that the feeder road will become an easy way for the locals in Thindigua and the neighbouring areas to access road transport facilities.

Furthermore, KURA has revealed that the early work on diversion routes is a strategy of lessening the traffic congestion problems during the dualling project which will eventually lead to an extension of road capacity and better transport services along the corridor.

The Kiambu Road dualling project when it finally takes off is anticipated to uplift the efficiency of transport, invigorate the economy and cut down the travel time of thousands of daily commuters who use the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌route.
