Bamburi Cement has received the Overall Corporate Circularity and Sustainability Excellence Award for its use of alternative fuels and raw materials.
The company received the award during the WEEE Centre’s E-Waste Conference held in Diani on October 15 and 16, which brought together regional and international stakeholders to discuss sustainable waste management and the circular economy.
Bamburi Cement was represented at the conference by William Mwangi and Laurent Monda. Monda took part in a panel discussion on circular manufacturing and metal recycling, while Mwangi attended the gala dinner where the company received the award.
The recognition was linked to Bamburi Cement’s use of alternative fuels and raw materials in its operations.
Circularity involves keeping materials in use for longer through practices such as recycling and reusing resources, rather than disposing of them as waste.
The conference provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss ways of improving waste management and advancing the circular economy.
