Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has initiated the registration process for learners scheduled to take the 2026 national assessments and examinations fot the KPSEA, KJSEA and KCSE, marking the first crucial step in a journey that is set shape the academic destiny of the 2026 candidates

According to the Kenya National Examinations Council, registration for candidates across the three assessment levels is set to begin on Monday, 16th February, and will run through to 31st March.

Speaking during the unveiling of the registration roadmap, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said this year’s national assessments and examinations are expected to accommodate more than four million candidates across the country, an increase of approximately 600,000 candidates from last year’s 3.6 million candidates.

The Ministry of Education revealed that grade 6 KPSEA candidates will register for the assessment from 16th February to 16th March, while the registration period for grade 9’s KJSEA candidates will run from 2nd March to 31st March.

The registration for the form 4’s KCSE candidates is set to officially begin on 16th February, running all through to 31st March 2026.

This year’s registration process howeve, however, comes with a key shift, as parents will, for the first time, be given an opportunity from  April 2026, to confirm their children’s registration details through an online platform to be provided by KNEC.
