Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that the government, through the Ministry of Health, will relook the means of testing for Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to ensure the people at the bottom of the pyramid are onboarded into the new insurance scheme.
Speaking on Saturday, February 1, during the launch of the Embu Boda Boda Strategic Plan 2024-2027, Kindiki indicated the riders’ integration into Taifa Care.
This, the deputy president said, will come in handy and protect the riders from the vagaries of ill health, mainly because of the hazards exposed to them in the course of their hustle.
"The MoH will relook the means testing tool for Taifa Care and SHA to ensure the people at the bottom of the pyramid, including boda boda Riders get onboarded and protect them from the vagaries of ill health more so because of the hazards exposed to them in the course of their trade," said Kindiki.
President William Ruto has repeatedly expressed his commitment to elevating the lives of people at the bottom of the pyramid, commonly known as hustlers.
