Kisii County Assembly has officially removed its suspended Clerk, James Nyaoga, from office.

The decision was announced by Speaker Philip Nyanumba, who cited gross misconduct, misbehavior, and violations of Chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution, along with County Assembly regulations as the primary reasons for Nyaoga’s dismissal.

The motion to remove Nyaoga was introduced by Boochi-Tendere Ward MCA James Ondari and was passed with a decisive majority of 55 votes in favor and 13 against.

Ondari stated that the Clerk’s removal was necessary as the allegations against him had been substantiated.

In response, Marani MCA and Minority Leader Ombachi criticized the process, alleging that Nyaoga’s removal was orchestrated.

Ombachi claimed that the matter had been taken to court, which had ruled that Human Resource channels should address the issue.

However, he argued that the assembly had disregarded this directive. Ombachi also expressed concerns that Nyaoga could not receive a fair judgment, as some witnesses against him were perceived adversaries.

Nyaoga’s removal follows a similar action taken against former Deputy Governor Dr. Robert Monda, marking a period of significant turnover in the county’s leadership.
