Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has set social media abuzz after sharing a cryptic message widely interpreted as a jab at Governor Anne Waiguru over the recent protests in the county.

In her post, Njeri appeared to question the authenticity and motive behind the demonstrations, which were reportedly organized to highlight governance and development concerns in Kirinyaga.

“There was even a full-fledged road-show truck to accompany the ‘generic’ protests. Hapa NYS thief didn’t do the math well,” she wrote — a remark that many Kenyans online linked to Waiguru, a former Devolution Cabinet Secretary once embroiled in the NYS scandal.

The post immediately drew mixed reactions from social media users, some backing the Woman Rep for “speaking her truth,” while others criticized her for fueling political tension in the region.

Kamau Wahome commented, “That’s how the devil exposes his own.”
Haruna Mburu laughed off the post, writing, “ati mutumia murogi.”

Pieyloh Lumumba added, “Ni wakaumbiki… ambie Rig Gy akuje mazishi ya yule mwimbaji wakaumbiki azuie tuone.”
While Mwongera Kobia Elias weighed in, saying, “Gachagua vita ameanza, itaiishia mbinguni.”

Njeri Maina, a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has been vocal in defending the DP amid growing political realignments within the Mount Kenya region.
