Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on leaders and residents from the Central region to set aside political differences and rally behind the government’s development agenda.

Speaking during an impromptu visit to Kibingoti Market in Ndia Constituency, Kirinyaga County, Kindiki expressed concern over rising political tensions that have led to destruction of property and divisions among locals. He termed the trend deeply troubling and warned that divisive rhetoric risked derailing the region’s progress.

“I am saddened to see brothers and sisters turning against each other because of politics,” Kindiki said. “This is the time for us to unite, focus on development, and deliver on the promises we made to our people.”

The Deputy President emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to fulfilling its pledges to the Central region. He urged leaders to prioritize unity, responsible leadership, and support for the government’s economic stimulus projects already underway.

During the visit, Kindiki conducted an impromptu inspection of several government projects in Kirinyaga County aimed at boosting local economies and improving livelihoods.

His remarks come at a time when political temperatures in the region are reportedly rising, with emerging rifts among some leaders over 2027 succession politics.

Kindiki’s message was clear: “Leadership must be about building, not breaking. Let’s walk together for the sake of our future.”
