Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki has highlighted government interventions aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, infrastructure and access to essential services in Embu County.
Speaking in Manyatta Constituency on Friday, August 28, 2026, Kindiki said the reduction of fertiliser prices from a high of KSh7,000 to KSh2,000 per bag, alongside lower seed prices, would help improve farmers’ incomes.
He noted that the government’s subsidy on sexed semen has reduced the cost of artificial insemination from KSh8,000 to KSh1,400 per dose, supporting growth in dairy production.
Kindiki said 415 kilometres of bitumen roads are currently under construction across Embu at a cost of KSh20 billion, while 12 fresh produce markets are being developed to stimulate local enterprise and economic activity.
He also said equipping of Level 3, 4 and 5 hospitals is ongoing under the National Equipment Support Programme, alongside the re-kitting of 1,500 Community Health Promoters.
The Deputy President added that improved prices for coffee, milk and tea, coupled with the near-completion of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Machanga, would support industrialisation and job creation.
Kindiki met more than 30,000 grassroots leaders to assess the impact of government programmes and receive feedback.
