Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development and national integration through ongoing infrastructure and social investment programmes across the country.

Speaking during a public engagement at Uwanja Wa Moto in Rabai Constituency, Kilifi County, after inspecting various development projects in the region, the Deputy President said the government is focused on ensuring that historically underserved areas benefit equally from national development.

Prof. Kindiki noted that 385 kilometres of new roads are currently under construction in Kilifi County at a cost of KSh 25 billion, aimed at improving connectivity, boosting trade, and enhancing mobility across the region.

On housing, he said KSh 22 billion is being channelled through the Housing Fund for the construction of affordable housing units, markets, student hostels, and institutional accommodation.

“The Government is dedicated to promoting public confidence and building national identity by ensuring that development programmes are implemented across the country equally and ensuring affirmative action measures are taken to bring up areas of Kenya that were previously neglected,” Kindiki said.

He further highlighted progress in rural electrification, stating that last-mile connectivity projects worth KSh 2.1 billion are ongoing in Kilifi County. The initiative is expected to connect 23,589 additional homes, businesses, and public facilities to electricity.

In the health sector, the Deputy President revealed that 650,000 residents of Kilifi have already been enrolled in the Taifa Care Universal Health Coverage programme, out of 1,453,000 residents in the county. Nationally, he said 30.5 million Kenyans have been registered under the programme.

He emphasized that the government’s development agenda is aimed at improving livelihoods, reducing inequality, and strengthening national cohesion.
