Kikuyu MP and the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has disclosed that he is worth about KSh 1 billion.

Ichung’wah made the revelation during an interview on Al Jazeera conducted by award-winning British-American journalist Mehdi Hassan.

Hassan had put to task Ichung’wah to clarify MP Junet Mohamed’s 2024 claim that the President William Ruto close ally is with over KSh 5 billion.

The lawmaker dismissed Junet’s claim, clarifying that he is worth close to 7.7 million US dollars (close to KSh 1 billion).

"My net worth is close to KSh 1 billion," said Ichung'wah.

Ichung’wah said he amassed his wealth from various businesses and organisations he had worked for before joining politics.

"I worked in other organisations before politics and did business over the years. Therefore, the perception that people in public service should not amass wealth should stop," he added.
