The business community in Kikuyu Constituency has pledged to mobilize resources to help reconstruct the Kikuyu Sub-County Law Courts, which were torched during the anti-government protests held on June 25th.
Residents are facing an indefinite delay in accessing essential judicial services that was interfeared on Wednesday’s anniversary protests by suspected goons. They destroyed critical court infrastructure and case files, that plunged the delivery of justice in the region into uncertainty.
The traders say the decision to mobilize funds is as a result of the drop in traffic to their businesses as Kenyans seeking government services were diverted to other sub-counties.
Kikuyu Deputy County Commissioner, Charles Laboso said Judicial services are temporarily being offered at Kikuyu Police chapel for 30 days as reconstruction continues while other government services are available in a different sub-county.
The business community hopes their efforts to rebuild the facility will not only restore judicial services but also revive the economic activity the town heavily relies on.
