Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, who tragically lost his life while serving on a peacekeeping mission in Haiti, was laid to rest on Thursday at his home in Kyakatolwe Village, Machakos County.
The solemn ceremony was attended by senior security and government officials, who paid tribute to the fallen officer’s dedication and bravery.
Delivering a message of condolence on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli, Senior Superintendent Jackson Kangani, Director of Security Operations, APS, extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
He praised Corporal Nzuve as a dependable and committed officer who executed his duties with diligence and courage.
Corporal Nzuve lost his life on August 30 in a road accident while serving in Haiti as part of Kenya’s peacekeeping contingent.
Aggrey Shamala, AIG and Commandant of the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU), under whom Corporal Nzuve served, also conveyed his condolences.
He remembered the officer for his unwavering dedication to duty, his sense of justice, and his selfless service to the nation.
Several high-ranking officers joined Kangani at the funeral, including Haron Nthiga, HSC-AIG and Chief of Staff, APS; Simon Njenga, CP and Staffing Officer, Security Operations APS; Monica Kimani, CP and County Police Commander, Machakos; Gathitu Ndegwa, SSP and County AP Commander, Machakos; and Patrick Gaitirira, OGW-SSP and Sub-County Police Commander, Kalama.
The ceremony was also attended by Edward Githaiga, representing the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs; Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi; and the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Ritah Ndunge, among others.
Corporal Nzuve was honoured not only for his service but also for the ultimate sacrifice he made in the pursuit of peace beyond Kenya’s borders.
