Renowned Nairobi-based graffiti artist Allan Kioko, widely known as “Think,” has been selected as Kenya’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence at a prestigious distillery program in Scotland. This opportunity places Kioko among an elite group of global creatives selected to spend time at a historic Scottish site, working in an environment known for blending tradition with innovation.
Kioko has earned acclaim for his socially driven murals in Nairobi’s informal settlements, where his vibrant and thought-provoking artwork brings attention to urban life and societal issues. As a key member of the influential collective “Clan of A Can,” he has been instrumental in redefining public art spaces across Kenya.
Now, as part of this international residency, Kioko will immerse himself in a creative exchange with other artists from around the world. He will also have a chance to compete for a major prize valued at KSh 2.5 million, awarded to the artist who best embodies the spirit of the program.
Organizers of the residency praised Kioko’s ability to fuse contemporary street art with traditional storytelling, citing his distinct voice and cultural relevance as standout qualities in this year’s selection.
