Two Kenyan travellers have successfully completed an extraordinary four-month overland journey from Nairobi to London, covering more than 45,000 kilometres across 60 countries in a feat being celebrated as a remarkable demonstration of endurance, adventure and national pride.
According to Kenyan diplomat Joseph Warui, the pair, Becky Kim and Bonnie Koko, arrived in London on June 12, bringing to an end an ambitious expedition that began in Nairobi on February 13.
The travellers were received at the Kenya High Commission in London, where officials hailed their accomplishment as a symbol of Kenyan resilience and determination.
Their route took them across multiple continents and some of the world’s most challenging landscapes, including the Sahara Desert, the Kalahari Desert and regions beyond the Arctic Circle. The expedition also saw them pass through the western edge of Senegal, cross the Tropic of Capricorn and travel to the northernmost parts of Europe before reaching the United Kingdom.

Following their arrival, the adventurers met with Maurice Makoloo, who congratulated them on completing the historic journey.
Warui described the expedition as more than a travel achievement, saying it reflected the courage, curiosity and global outlook of young Kenyans.

“Their expedition is not merely a chronicle of distance. It is a testament to Kenyan fortitude, cross-border inquiry and the audacity of global aspiration,” he said.

The journey has attracted attention among Kenyans both at home and abroad, with many viewing it as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through determination and careful planning.
