Principal Secretary State Department for The Blue Economy and Fisheries, Ministry of Mining Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Betsy Njagi has welcomed the launch of the Kenya’s National Blue Economy Strategy 2025–2030.

The launch was presided over the Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho.

The Ps said that the move marks a defining step in anchoring oceans, lakes and aquatic resources at the heart of national development.

She argued that the Strategy consolidates the progress made since the 2018 Nairobi Sustainable Blue Economy Conference and aligns firmly with Vision 2030, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

She added that the move clearly positions the blue economy and fisheries as key drivers of inclusive growth, job creation and environmental stewardship.

“as we advance this agenda, we also reaffirm Kenya’s readiness to host the 11th Our Ocean Conference,”she said.

The conference will be conducted i Mombasa County from 16th–18th June 2026 bringing in global leaders across the World.
