Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced plans to bolster Kenya’s industrial development through a strengthened partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Speaking on the sidelines of the 68th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna, Mudavadi held a strategic meeting with senior UNIDO officials, led by Ms. Fatou Haidara, the Deputy to the Director General and Special Representative for Africa.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between UNIDO and the Kenyan government, particularly in supporting Kenya’s industrialization agenda, which includes the ambitious launch of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) in all 47 counties.

“We discussed strengthening collaboration between UNIDO and the Government to further support Kenya’s industrialization initiatives, including Kenya’s plans to launch County Aggregation and Industrial Parks in all counties,” said Mudavadi. He added that Kenya and UNIDO are on the verge of signing a new Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) agreement, which will oversee the expansion of UNIDO’s projects in Kenya.
The planned PCP agreement is expected to bring a renewed focus on UNIDO’s contribution to Kenya’s industrial sector, especially as the country pushes forward with its industrialization and economic transformation goals.
Mudavadi emphasized Kenya’s commitment to work with UNIDO on multilateral issues, including the ongoing strategic review and the relaunch of the UN Industrial Decade for Africa (IDDA) structures, as well as the implementation of the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative (AGII).
“Our partnership with UNIDO is key in pushing forward the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative and strengthening Kenya’s industrial capabilities,” he said.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Ambassador Maurice Makoloo, Kenya’s Permanent Representative in Vienna; Manuel Mattiat, UNIDO Chief of Cabinet; Victor Djemba, Chief of UNIDO’s Africa Division; and Ms. Tally Einav, the UNIDO Country Representative in Kenya.
