In a major step toward realizing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the Government of Kenya is placing community health at the forefront of its national health strategy. Through the Ministry of Health’s Division of Community Health Services, and in collaboration with key Community Health Partners, a pivotal Community Health Services County Review Forum is underway.

The high-level forum brings together Community Health Focal Persons from all 47 counties, marking a unified effort to align national and county-level strategies around community health. The event is designed to orient county representatives on recent policy updates, strategic directions, and to reinforce community health as a foundational pillar in the country’s UHC agenda.

“This forum is a critical platform for sharing best practices, addressing ongoing challenges, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration,” said a Ministry of Health spokesperson. “It’s about empowering counties with the tools and knowledge needed to drive meaningful change from the ground up.”

The gathering will culminate in the co-creation of a joint National and County Action Plan—an actionable blueprint to guide future investments, innovations, and interventions in the community health space.

As Kenya intensifies its journey toward equitable, accessible healthcare for all, this initiative underscores a growing recognition: that sustainable health systems begin in the community.
