Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene across the country during a high-level ministerial roundtable held on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Ethiopia.
The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Julius Korir, together with Water Secretary Eng. Samuel Alima, represented Kenya at the meeting, which brought together water sector leaders from across Africa to discuss ways of accelerating access to WASH services.
The roundtable, convened by AUDA-NEPAD, focused on aligning technical priorities, validating targets, and identifying practical implementation needs to fast-track water and sanitation projects.
Discussions also explored investment opportunities with the World Bank Group, development partners, and the private sector.
Kenya’s delegation said the country remains firmly committed to scaling up equitable access to safe water, safely managed sanitation, and hygiene services, especially in underserved communities.
Officials said the government will continue strengthening partnerships, mobilizing sustainable financing, and investing in climate-resilient solutions to ensure no one is left behind.
Water and sanitation, they noted, are critical to public health, dignity, and economic growth, and stronger regional collaboration is key to delivering lasting impact across Africa.
