The Ministry of Interior says Kenya is strengthening its security partnership with Canada through a series of joint initiatives aimed at improving border management and intelligence sharing.

In a statement, the ministry indicated that the collaboration has already led to the establishment of Joint Operating Centres at Moi International Airport and the Lungalunga border point.

The centres bring together multiple border agencies, enhancing coordination and improving intelligence exchange at critical entry and exit points.

According to the ministry, frontline officers are currently undergoing training on standard operating procedures developed under Canadian support.

The training programs are being implemented in partnership with the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The ministry added that these initiatives formed part of the discussions when the Canadian High Commissioner to Kenya, Ambassador Joshua Tabah, paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary for Internal Security, Dr Raymond Omollo.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in strengthening Kenya’s border security systems.
