Kenya has stepped up its ambition to become a regional leader in technology, innovation and advanced manufacturing after President William Ruto assented to the Technopolis Bill at State House Nairobi.
ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo Gitau said the new law provides a clear framework for the development and management of world-class technopolises across the country.
In his comments, Kabogo further emphasized that the act will help enhance investors’ confidence because of its predictable and sustainable licensing processes. Moreover, he noted that Kenya will be viewed as an attractive investment location for global investments as well as for research and innovations.
The adoption of the act is perceived as an important step towards enhancing the transition process of Kenya to a knowledge economy based on digital technologies.
According to Kabogo, the act will help Kenya realize its aspirations to become Africa’s Silicon Savannah.
